NEBDAC organized successful opposition to Rhode Island’s SB 2532
Rhode Island’s Senate Human and Health Services (HHS) Committee was set to review SB2532, legislation that would have prevented the value of copay assistance from being applied towards Rhode Islanders’ accumulated out-of-pocket expenses. This legislation would have undoubtedly increased prescription abandonment rates, and ultimately poorer health outcomes. After testimony from the community and meetings with NHF, the Committee agreed to remove the accumulator adjustor language from the bill.
Special thanks to Collette from NHF who came to Rhode Island twice to share her expertise on these accumulator adjustor programs. SB2532 can be read and followed here.
